I Found a Pet!
Congratulations! You found* a lost pet-you have the tools to get them home!
Your superhero duties include:
🥇 File a lost report at 24PetConnect.com, pawboost.com, Facebook.com, nextdoor.com, and any other social media outlet you can. Visit the Solano County Shelter and file a found report. Make sure to include:
-Date they were found
-Two cross streets
-Their color, markings, collars, etc…
-Your contact information
-A picture of their face, body, and special markings
✌🏾 Call a vet, a rescue, or take to the county shelter to have scanned for a microchip-you MUST follow up with any number/contact on the chip. Most people do not know how to register their chips and professionals can sometimes track down the owner through the chipping company.
3️⃣ You have two options: surrender the animal to the local shelter for them to hold and adopt out when legal or hold the animal for 30 days and assume ownership/rehome.
‼️Always assume LOST not abandoned/dumped/neglected. IF an animal is chipped and not registered-you owe it to the animal to help them find their person. You cannot keep an animal without trying to find their home. Solano County includes: Fairfield, Suisun, Benicia, Vallejo, Vacaville, Travis AFB, Rio Vista, and Dixon.
