Our Story

In 2017, Heather and Rachel formed the non-profit organization Tiny Lion Tamers and set out to provide resources and support to the forgotten felines of Solano County, but sometimes to become a hero, you must face adversity and come out on the other side stronger than before. After defeating a few villains who worked actively to ruin our reputation and spread falsehoods, we recalibrated, and officially changed our name and mission statement to reflect our place in the community. In 2019, we became Super Fur-iends Rescue.

It started with taking cats in crisis and working with them one on one, doing small TNR projects, and helping community members with circumstances beyond their control. We worked with cats like Hank who was being physically abused for peeing out of the box, Hawk and Dove who were left in a small carrier to bake in the sun, and Wade Wilson who lost his battle to FIP.  As our program grew and the needs of the community changed, we adapted our mission, built our team, and continued to advocate for the cats that no one can or will work with. As of 2025, we have touched the lives of 2000+ animals through fostering, adopting, low cost care, and FREE microchipping. It isn’t just about the cats for us, it’s about helping our community to grow, understand, and assist one another.

Over the past few years we have grown our program to include specialized neonatal care, rehabilitation for “unadoptable” cats with workable behavior challenges, hissy kitten bootcamp, and working with cats who have exceptional needs or disabilities. We work with other local organizations, small businesses, and entrepreneurs including Waterfront Comics and Pet Supplies Plus. Our group signs up for local events to share our mission and continue growing our team and resources. We are a diverse group of women, veterans, teachers, parents, homemakers, service members, mental health professionals, animal behavior and training specialists, and people who have been “othered” due to physical or mental limitations. None of this is possible without people like you.

As a 501c3 non-profit organization, our funding belongs to our mission statement. Donors, adopters, and volunteers trust us to make challenging decisions with the funding they provide us. To date we have over 2 dozen regular donors who keep our program going. We are super grateful for all of the support we are given and are constantly reminded that you don’t need a cape to be a hero, you just need to care.

Our Mission

To provide resources, outreach, and education to community members seeking to ensure better lives for the animals in their community through low cost or sponsored care and behavioral education.  To ensure quality lives for abused, abandoned, and under socialized cats through Fear Free methods and  positive reinforcement training and fostering.  Rehoming intervention by providing education and training guidance. To assist with animal neglect and hoarding cases with assistance from local agencies. Lastly to assist with rehoming animals by ensuring they are sterilized and vetted prior or in extreme cases taking surrenders when capacity allows.

Our Promise

We tell every foster: “You’re a hero now and will never be cold or hungry again, fear for safety or security, and you will always know love and compassion.”
