Super Hero Academy

Welcome to our Super Hero Academy, where you can view our foster felines that are looking for a place to call home. Candidates for this program may come from shelter partners, business partners, ongoing community cat projects, public requests, or be surrendered to us by guardians who can no longer provide for their needs. We commit to providing for the physical, physiological and emotional wellbeing of our fosters with modern medical, training, sheltering, adoption, and retention practices.

We welcome adopters from all walks of life and have a passion for placing felines who can provide emotional support for their human. Please contact us if you are unable to complete your application online or if you are in need of other considerations.

Super Furiends Rescue is a nonprofit 501c3 organization located in Solano County, CA. All fosters are located in private foster homes.

So You Want to Adopt a Hero?

Apply & Match

Start the adoption process by filling out a generic application or by selecting from our available heroes. Next, an adoption counselor will contact you through your preferred method to go over your potential matches.

What are your requirements for adoption?

If you are unable to complete the application, please contact us to arrange an alternative.

  1. A valid address with proof of residency, up to date contact information, and consent to a public records search

  2. A history of your past pets or experiences with animals

  3. An understanding of your household’s dynamics

  4. An appreciation of our team’s time and knowledge of each feline’s needs

  5. An acknowledgement and agreement to the adoption contract

Meet

Once we narrow down your options you’ll have the opportunity to meet the foster parents and their heroes through an event, foster home meet and greet, multimedia, phone or video calls.

Adopt

On adoption day you’ll need a carrier and a winning smile for your adoption photo. Your adoption counselor will go over any additional questions, review your introduction plan, load up your goodie bag, and present your new Super Furiend with their very own cape.

Each cat receives preventative treatment for round, hook, whip, and tapeworms, coccidia, giardia, fleas, lice, and ticks (pyrantel, praziquantel, fenbendazole, Revolution, and toltrazuril). Litters and adult cats are combo tested for feline immunodeficiency virus and feline leukemia (FIV/FELV). We follow FelineVMA & AAHA guidelines for feline vaccines to include 3-4 rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, panleukopenia (FVRCP) spaced 3-6 weeks apart. Some cats receive core vaccines for feline leukemia (FELV) and Rabies. Every cat is spayed/neutered and microchipped and enrolled with the 24PetWatch registry.

Our fosters enjoy a healthy, balanced diet of Purina Pro Plan kibbles, and a variety of canned foods from Pet Supplies Plus. This diet provides all necessary nutrients, including the additional moisture, fat, and protein that cats need. We encourage naturalistic feeding or scheduled feedings through enrichment.

Our heroes use a variety of unscented clumping litters including: clay, walnut, corn, grass, wheat, and tofu. Click here more information on litter and boxes.

We use treats such as Temptations and Churu-but we also suggest trying pet safe, outside of the box ideas such as cream cheese, squeeze cheese, catnip, plain/unseasoned chicken and boiled egg whites. Treats can help build your relationship, complete the play/prey cycle to fight boredom, and to encourage super behaviors.

In-home Fosters

We are an in-home foster organization and each cat is placed into homes that help refine their superpowers and that give them the tools to approach their challenges. To learn more about our foster homes, check out our Volunteer page.

Adoption Process

Our adoption process places the welfare of our heroes first by placing them into homes that are best suited to their personalities. Our adoption team keeps profiles up to date, takes photos and videos, and has created a comprehensive list of personality traits that can be filtered to find your best match. We encourage adopters to focus on the superpowers our heroes possess, rather than their costumes.

Retention

Your adoption story isn’t a transaction that ends with a signature and a photo. Your adoption includes a transition plan with check-ins from our team, resources for emergencies, and a safe place for our heroes to return to when unavoidable.
